Knitting Provides Calming Effects, Creative Results

By Press Release

Stress hormones, super moms, too much information, type-A personalities, technology overload — all are by-products of our productive lifestyles.
Many of us need an innovative way to relax, regenerate, and recharge. What many modern women have found is the timeless art of knitting. Don’t panic, this isn’t your grandmother’s knitting anymore!
Knitting has been called, “the new yoga,” for its calming effects. Because knitting uses a repetitive motion of the hands, it creates soothing alpha brain waves.
Whatever you like to call it, it works! Ask the many advocates of this hobby, and you’ll find they love their knitting and love the result of their creation. Some can’t imagine taking a road trip, or watching a football game, without their knitting project.
Knitting is a wonderful hobby that can reduce stress in your life, enhance soothing thoughts, and result in a unique handmade item. During the past 25 years, Fiber Arts has taught dozens of new and seasoned knitters to knit, crochet, and expand their knitting knowledge.
It’s our goal to introduce knitting to anyone and everyone who would like to try, and we invite all levels of knitters and crochet enthusiasts to visit Fiber Arts. You’ll find yarns beyond your wildest imagination, tested knitting patterns, knowledgeable staff, and a myriad of knitting projects to keep you enthused.
Fiber Arts is open year round, and is always a warm and lively place to stop in and meet fellow knitters.
Knitting University Course begins January 2012. This step-by-step approach of six classes will take you from the easiest scarf for beginners, to the next level with a ribbed hat.
Then we move onto trying some new stitches in a sampler scarf…and so on until finally you’re making hand knit socks. Techniques learned along the way will keep you interested and “can’t wait” for you next lesson. There’s even a graduation party and awards at the end.
If you’re not a knitter, we invite you to come to the Fiber Arts Yarn Shop on Hospitality nights in Cape May December 8-9 from 6-8 p.m.
Fiber Arts is open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. year round in downtown Cape May. Sundays from noon-5 p.m.
Our shop is stocked floor to ceiling with the most wonderful selection of novelty, organic, and classic knitting yarns. We also carry an extensive selection of knitting needles, knitting accessories, patterns, books, gifts for the knitter, and buttons.
Gift Certificates are available in any denomination. Call us at 609-898-8080 to begin your knitting adventure.
