DENNISVILLE — A starlit night, with just enough chill in the air to make it seem like Christmas, helped make Dennis Township’s Christmas Parade, Thur., Dec. 1 a big success for children of all ages.
As the line of march, just over a mile in length, wound it way down Fidler Road, down Main Street to Church Avenue, then up Hall Avenue to Dennisville Petersburg Road, crowds watched as floats from churches and youth groups were interspersed with fire engines and rescue units from throughout the county.
Members of Dennis Township Middle School’s Band livened up the parade music.
A huge, decorated evergreen on the corner by Dennis Township Historic Museum made a festive backdrop for many photos of youngsters for proud parents and grandparents.
Santa and Mrs. Claus, in a white, horse-drawn carriage, signaled an end to the parade as they made their way to Academy Road, the elementary school and reviewing stand where festivities ended with awarding of trophies.
