Easter Events Offered across County

By Herald Staff

Christians in Western and Eastern rite (Greek Orthodox) churches will unite to celebrate Easter April 24. This happens since the Greek Orthodox Easter is based on a modified Julian calendar. Western churches use the Gregorian calendar. For that reason, the celebrations do not always occur at the same time. This is one of those rare years when all Christendom will mark its most important event, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, on the same day.
Churches in Cape May County plan a variety of services through this, Holy Week, culminating with Easter Sunday services. For advertised church events Click Here.
Most local and county government offices will close Fri., April 22, Good Friday. U.S. Government offices, including post offices will be open, and mail will be delivered, since the day is a religious, not a federal holiday.
