Easter events are scheduled in Ocean City

Ocean City Easter events begin on Saturday, April 11 at 11 a.m., with the Woofin’ Paws Pet Fashion Show at Carey Stadium, Sixth Street off Boardwalk. The contest is open to any pet that will not eat another pet.
Categories include Best Dressed Dog, Cat, Miscellaneous, Bathing Suits, Intelligent Pet Tricks, Best Face Licker, Most Patriotic, BestTail Wagger and Pet-Owner Look Alike. Ribbons will be awarded. Best of Show receives the Dean Schofield Woofin’ Paws Plaque for Perfection.
A $5 entry fee for individual pets and a $10 fee for multiple entries (no limit) benefits the Ocean City Humane Society. Register for the contest at the field starting 10 a.m. the day of the show. In the event of harsh weather the event will be held inside the adjacent Sports and Civic Center.
Elvis performer, Ted Prior, will sing “You Ain’t Nothin’ But a Hound Dog, Easter Bonnet and other songs appropriate to the various categories. Singer Margie Dailey will also perform.

Ocean City’s Annual Great Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for the beach from 11th to 13th streets on Saturday, April 11 at 2:30 p.m. There will be five age groups, 1-2 at 11th Street, 3-4 and 5-6 at 12th Street and 7, 8 and 9 year old at 13th Street. Only ages 1-2 may have an adult accompany them into the area.
Over 100,000 eggs with candy will be placed; 4,000 with prizes. Five grand prize bikes will be awarded plus other grand prizes in each age group. An awards ceremony will be held at the Pavilion, 11th and Boardwalk, following the hunt.
In the event of rain, eggs will be distributed at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Participants should arrive at the beach on time as the hunt is over quickly. Participation is free and there is no need to register.
Easter in the Downtown features Breakfast with the Easter Bunny on April 11, 9 a.m. till noon at the Chatterbox, Ninth and Central avenues. Order from the menu. The Bunny will pose for photos in a lifeguard stand at Ninth and Asbury Avenue at no charge. There will be candy filled eggs for kids and Eggstra Special Savings along the Avenue shops.
Shoppers should look for the egg signs in windows of participating stores to receive an egg filled with prizes and benefit from in-store specials. Call 398-4662 for information.
The City’s annual Easter Sunrise Service is set 6:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 12, Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. The public is invited to the non-denominational program.
Guest speaker will be Dr. W. Wilson Goode, former mayor of Philadelphia. Goode is an ordained Baptist minister with 54 years of service at the First Baptist Church of Pascal in Philadelphia.
Students of the Nancy Fox Voice Studio will sing at the Sunrise Service.
The annual fashion competition begins at 1 p.m. in front of the Music Pier. Laurie Kohr, former Miss New Jersey, will emcee.
Ted Prior’s Early Morning Reign Band will entertain at the reviewing stand. The Easter Bunny will give chocolate bunnies to children and pose for photos.
Prizes will be awarded to best-dressed family, children, couples, man, woman, teens and bonnets. In the event of inclement weather, the contest will be held inside the Music Pier. For information on all events, call the Public Relations Office 609-525-9300.
