SWAINTON – Cars kept entering Cape May County Park April 8 filling nearly all parking spots just in time for the 10 a.m. start of the Easter Egg Hunt. Brisk temperatures aside, the event was bathed in sunshine.
According to Parks Director Ed Runyon, the hunt was “our biggest ever.” He estimated over 600 cars had entered, and calculated an average of four persons per vehicle, made 2,400 people, many of them from tots just walking to older children.
Areas filled with colorful plastic eggs were sectioned off for various age groups. Runyon said there were over 5,000 eggs placed in those locations by park employees.
The hunt began at 10 a.m. By 10:03 a.m. most of the candy-filled eggs had been snatched from their hiding places by tiny hands and tossed into baskets, bags, and pails.
When the ground and secret places were void of eggs, many of their young finders decided to partake of their treasures, making for chocolate-covered smiles and sticky hands.
Dennis Township – Warning… Stock up on toilet paper! A 25 % tariff on Canada (day one) will raise the price of toilet paper on January 20th. We may get our eggs from local farms, but we WILL pay more for necessities…
