COURT HOUSE – Inspired by “The Power of a Simple Gift,” members of First United Methodist Church of Court House spent the evening Nov. 11 packing colorfully-decorated shoeboxes with small toys and other gift items as part of Operation Christmas Child.
While many church members individually packed shoeboxes as part of the project, there was a bulk night packing that consumed several hours and was fueled by pizza as part of the weekly Family Night.
Dennise Reardon, coordinator of the Operation Christmas Child project at the church, could not say just how many boxes would be filled that evening, although she hoped for at least 200.
Part of Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child has undertaken to send shoeboxes for boys and girls to countries around the globe.
The Family Worship Center at 1 Church St. is a collection point for other churches which are also participating in the project.
Nov. 12-16 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. those boxes will be collected. On Nov. 17-18, boxes will be collected from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 19; boxes will be collected from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
