NORTH WILDWOOD – TV ads for Christmas gifts rushing you? Christmas music on the radio making you nervous? This City has the antidote!
North Wildwood is hosting two special events that will fill you with warm and jolly feelings of the season. They’re both on Dec. 7, but scheduled so you can attend both!
First is the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Christmas Tree Lighting. It takes place in the Lighthouse Courtyard at First and Central avenues beginning at 5:30 p.m.
If you’ve never experienced this wonderful tradition, you’re in for a magical surprise. If you’ve been there before, you know it’s an event not to be missed. Local children sing. The Lighthouse hosts an open house. Refreshments are served. And when the tree is lit, it’s a spectacular treat.
Santa himself will be on hand to talk with the children and pose for photos.
Mayor Bill Henfey said, “This is an old fashioned community event that will really put you in the Christmas spirit!”
For more information, call 609-522-4520.
Following the Tree Lighting is the Greater Wildwood Jaycees Christmas Parade, another traditional treat! It begins at 7 p.m. at 15th and Central avenues, proceeds south on Pacific Avenue through Wildwood to Heather Road in Wildwood Crest, ending at the Wildwoods Convention Center.
It’s a festive line-up of floats, fire trucks, bands, and community groups accompanied by Santa himself (fresh from the Hereford Tree Lighting)! Awards will be presented in the Wildwoods Convention Center at 8 p.m. Trophies will be awarded in these categories: Commercial, Community Service, Marching Bands, and Public Service.
(Rain date for the parade is Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. If the weather is uncertain, listen to 98.7 The Coast.)
