SWAINTON — Hundreds of youngsters, some all smiles, some in frightful tears, others in utter amazement and awe met Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Reptile House at Cape May County Zoo Dec. 15. The long line was greeted with holiday carols sung by a trio from Cape Island Theatre Co. of Cold Spring.
The annual photo session and time to tell the North Pole’s famous couple their Christmas wishes lasted from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on a day perfect for strolling the exhibits at the zoo.
It was as if the animals knew something special was happening, the lion roared, as if to bring attention to the place. Rocky, the Siberian tiger lounged about, strutting up and down briefly, then settled into a regal gaze of those on the other side of his exhibit.
The lack of real snow was no reason not to have a faux snowball fight, with white balls near the Reptile House.
