Cape May County Celebrates Greek Independance Day

COURT HOUSE- The Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders proclaimed March 25 as Greek Independence Day in recognition of the 189th anniversary of Greek independence after nearly 400 years of enslavement.
The Freeholders paid tribute to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of North Wildwood and the Greek-American community of Cape May County which serve as beacons of the Greek language, culture, values, heritage, civilization and Hellenic ideals at a Flag Raising Ceremony held on Saturday, March 20.
Members of the Cape May County Greek Community joined U.S. Marshal James Plousis, Freeholder Ralph E. Bakley Sr. and County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti in front of the Administration Building for the raising of the Greek flag as a tribute to their Freedom and liberty.
