Are You Watching?

By Jeanette Blaesi

It was still and null of rush,
In the pasture low and hushed,
A silence hung amongst the breeze,
The sheep were stirring there would be
No sleep,
For up above the earthen field,
An illuminating light did yield,
The brightness of His coming not concealed!
Humble souls did stand their watch,
As Kings feared that blazing spot,
The market of the Holy One,
God’s gift…His only son,
A Savior birthed quite destitute,
Would one day lean a multitude?
(Jesus is his name, may we give him praise),
His life he’d soon lay down,
In death the victory and his crown,
Our Savior will return again,
Upon a cloud He will descend,
Keep looking up and stand your watch,
As shepherds we must guard our flocks,
Time draws near his coming soon,
May we, the church, be dressed to meet our groom!
