I was given a vacation from my home for Christmas. I would be spending eight days at my daughter’s home. There was a deal involve, I would babysit the two dogs. The family was going skiing.
Although my daughter doesn’t ski she was going too. She would be in the lodge most of the time. Reading would be her main job. I think she was having the vacation.
My husband and I came to Avalon on Christmas morning. We would have brunch and then my husband and my daughter’s family would leave. I was told Hailey the small dog had an ear infection, and I needed to wash her ear and give her ear drops.
The dogs have crates and my daughter suggested I put Stormy, a Siberian Husky, in her crate when I took care of Hailey.
Both dogs like to eat in their crates two times a day. Everything went well for the first three days. Then Hailey found a ball, her favorite toy and wanted me to throw it for her.
I found one of Stormy’s toys to throw for her. Things went well until Stormy stole the ball, I knew what was going to happen.
Stormy would destroy the ball. Hailey growled at Stormy, Stormy turned and grabbed Hailey’s long ear and it started to bleed. It was her sore ear.
I washed it and hoped for the best. Called my daughter, she said, “If it looks bad or keeps bleeding take her to the vet.” Well, it didn’t bleed or look bad the next day.
I needed a vacation after I went home. I thought this is too much for a 75-year-old woman. Well, I will again be watching the dogs during the Christmas holiday this year. Hopefully it won’t be as bad and it won’t be as long.
