By Bearetta Harrison-Black, Whitesboro.
On a cold wintry day and a cold wintry night
sitting at the window… noticing everything’s covered in white.
Snow is falling here ’n there tonight… it’s like playful little children
had a snowy pillow fight.
I slip my slippers on and scurry to the kitchen to brew some tea
then down to the cellar to gather ornaments, garland, and lights
to decorate the Christmas tree!
Back up the cellar stairs and into the living room… my nerves
are running wild because I know Christmas is coming soon!
“I need to settle down… After all, I am my own team”
Off to the kitchen I go… the pot is full of steam
Poured tea into my mug and thought “hmm, needs a little cream.”
Up down loopy loop and twisted around the cords…
working the decorations to the top and down to the floors.
Next, I’ll wrap ribbon around the gifts… to tie into a bow
Last, I will tidy up… then hang the mistletoes!
Thank God for giving me strength in all that I had made
It’s like looking at a picture painted by Thomas Kincaid!
