18th Annual Holiday Toy And Food Drive To Be Held In Sea Isle City

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY– Ever since he took office in 1993, Sea Isle City Mayor Leonard Desiderio has hosted an annual Holiday Toy and Food Drive for local families in need. This year, realizing that the current economy has negatively affected many people, Mayor Desiderio and his “elves” at City Hall will once again gather food and children’s gifts between November 19 and December 20.
Donations from the public are greatly needed to make this worthy cause a success. Items of non-perishable food and wrapped or unwrapped children’s toys and gifts can be made at any of the following locations: Sea Isle’s City Hall, 4416 Landis Avenue (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.); 1st Bank of Sea Isle City, 4301 Landis Avenue; and KIX Package Goods on 63rd Street in Sea Isle City. Those donating wrapped children’s gifts are reminded to please mark each package with the intended recipient’s age and gender. Gifts for young and older children are needed, and gift cards and checks (made payable to “Mayor’s Food & Toy Drive”) will also be accepted.
“This drive ensures that everyone in Sea Isle City will have food and gifts during this special time of the year,” said Mayor Desiderio. “Even though we may be perceived as not having people who suffer during this tough economy, we want everyone to have enough during the holidays.”
In 2009, 21 families received “holiday cheer” courtesy of the Mayor’s Toy and Food Drive, including 45 children and numerous senior citizens. If you know of anyone living in Sea Isle City who is in need, please contact the mayor’s office, 609-263-4461, ext. 245.
