Volunteers In Medicine 10th Anniversary Celebration a Feel Good Community Event

COURT HOUSE — Over 100 people enjoyed a delicious brunch recently to help Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County celebrate their 10th Anniversary. The event was sponsored by the Holly Beach Library Association; Sturdy Savings Bank; Holly Shores Campground; Petro Cohen Petro Matarazzo and Warrington; Cooper Levenson; Fishermen’s Energy; Atlantic Cape Fisheries and Hankin, Sandman & Palladino.
Proclamations were received from Congressman Frank LoBiondo; Senator Jeff VanDrew and Assemblymen Nelson Albano and Matt Milam; Freeholders Jerry Thornton and Kristine Gabor and Mayor Dan Lockwood of Middle Township.
Peter Lomax, a former Board of Trustee recalled the early days of renovating the building on Route 9 and turning it into a medical clinic. Rev. Joan Jackson was the keynote speaker and spoke of the many patients she interviewed for her remarks and the care and sense of family they receive from all of the volunteers at VIM.
VIM recognized volunteers who have been volunteers with the clinic for the past 10 years and presented them with 10 year pins.
VIM also recognized the volunteer doctors who were in the audience who give of their time to care for VIM’s patients – Dr. Dennis Cardillo; Dr. Joseph Salvatore, Dr. David Perry ; Dr. Thomas Dierkes and VIM’s Medical Director Dr. Elizabeth Crowley.
Representatives from the Greater Wildwood Elks and the Mustard Seed each presented VIM with donations in support of the clinic operations.
VIM along with representatives from Gables announced the next fundraiser for VIM called VIM Bam Boom which will be held on Thur., April 19 at the Golden Inn in Avalon. It is an evening of dining and entertainment featuring Jazz Vocalist Gina Roche, Magician and Mentalist Eric Walton; Contortionist Jared Rydelek and hosted by Jim Daly. Tickets are $65 per person and can be reserved by calling VIM at 465-2846.
