OCEAN CITY — With a strong reputation for providing excellence and compassionate memory care, United Methodist Communities at The Shores recently opened Tapestries II Memory Care Residence. Complemented by Tapestries I, established in 2005, it expands the total number of residents from 28 to 50. Both are located in secure Assisted Living neighborhoods within The Shores’ community.
Tapestries II offers apartments with living rooms, bedrooms, full bathrooms and tea kitchens, allowing residents to experience what they feel is “normal” in their private space. They can also enjoy their daily pleasures and life engagement in the communal areas that include an intimate living room, a light-filled and airy dining room, and a multi-purpose room for hobbies.
Both Tapestries residences employ skilled, certified associates, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, specifically trained to care for those who suffer from various neurocognitive disorders and related dementias or as The Shores describes, “Those experiencing difficulty with thinking.”
In fact, it is the training of the Tapestries staff in a very specific, progressive process called Comfort Matters® that makes United Methodist Communities memory care residences unique. Comfort Matters® is a nationally recognized, accredited program. Its strategies are built upon the latest science and research-based best practices and places them in the hands of caregivers, enabling them to make positive differences in peoples’ lives. Concisely stated, people with dementia can live better lives.
