RIO GRANDE- As of Monday, September 23rd, the RiteCare convenient care health center is open in the Rio Grande ShopRite. This location will be open evenings and weekends and will offer walk-in treatment for common illness and injury for patients of all ages. The RiteCare model also provides a less expensive option for after-hours care with costs under that of a visit to an urgent care facility or an emergency room.
Healthcare is changing. No longer do patients want to take time off of work or away from family to fit into their doctor’s busy schedule. The rising demand for Urgent Care walk-in centers is an indication that patients need healthcare to fit their lifestyle, not the other way around. “We understand that often patients have an immediate need to see someone and can’t wait for an appointment with their specific provider,” said CompleteCare’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Cheryl Bettigole. Dr. Bettigole also adds that RiteCare is not meant to replace a trip to the ER for a true emergency nor is it a replacement for a patient’s primary care provider. However, it is a convenient means of accessing care when seeing a regular primary care provider is impossible.
“While access to affordable walk-in care is wonderful for patients, our goal as a health center is to ensure that our patients receive the total treatment they need, which often involves follow-up visits,” said Dr. Bettigole. Patients who are treated at RiteCare are given instructions to follow-up with their regular providers for on-going care.
The Rio Grande ShopRite RiteCare office is the third RiteCare location opened by the CompleteCare Health Network in southern New Jersey. RiteCare has proven to be popular option for patients seeking non-emergency care after-hours and on weekends. The RiteCare offices in ShopRite see walk-in patients for a variety of common illnesses, injuries and they also offer health screenings and tetanus, pneumovax, PPD’s and flu shots.
These convenient sites are also a far less expensive option (as are CompleteCare’s regular neighborhood health centers). While those without insurance benefit from the lower cost, even if you have insurance you will only have to pay the co-pay for a regular office visit, not the more expensive specialist or emergency room price.
The Rio Grande RiteCare will be open 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm Monday through Friday and 12:30 – 4:30 pm Saturday and Sunday. Appointments are not necessary as treatment is provided on a walk-in basis. For more information visit www.completenj.org or call 609-465-0258.
