The beginning of the new year is always the start of new resolutions. The problem is, there are rarely completions. Ask yourself: Why are you doing setting this new resolution? Do you have a real outcome in mind? Have you seen positive outcomes in your well-being? Joining the gym and working out for two months is not a resolution if you don’t have a health goal in mind. There must be a real change in your lifestyle. There is no quick fix and no shortcuts. The truth is, you must make a commitment to yourself to change your unhealthy lifestyle into a healthier one. Think of it like brushing your teeth – you brush your teeth every day out of habit, not because you schedule it or enjoy it. We do it so we don’t lose our teeth.
Our bodies need attention just like our teeth do. We lose one pound of muscle and gain one pound of fat every year over the age 20 without strength training. This means our bones are becoming weaker. Walking becomes difficult. We start to lose stature because bones need muscle coverage to remain erect. Your heart is a muscle that needs exercise to pump efficiently. Are you already on blood pressure, cholesterol or diabetes medicine? Do you realize a real commitment and not a short term resolution is your solution?
Look at your health situation and make a real plan to change. Make realistic goals and focus on creating new habits. Stop focusing on past mistakes, and instead create new successes. Remember, we all crawled before we walked and walked before we ran.
Your new solution is a commitment to yourself to create a new you from the inside out. Health living is a daily journey, so enjoy each and every day. We at Miracles Fitness are committed to helping you on your new journey. Stop by and visit us behind Joe Canal’s in Rio Grande.
