ERMA– The MidAtlantic MedEvac Helicopter Team, which transports patients to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC), gave attendees of a summer camp a helicopter’s-eye-view of careers combining aviation and healthcare July 23 at the Cape May Airport, Lower Township.
Forty-four children ages 12 to 17 met the helicopter crew and toured the inside of the aircraft. The visit was part of the Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy’s week of events and activities that introduce students to aviation-related careers, July 19 through July 23. The MidAtlantic MedEvac Helicopter Team included John Bergen, flight nurse and clinical coordinator of ARMC Emergency Medical Services (EMS); Fred Ellinger, flight paramedic; Brian Murphy, pilot; and David Tercha, flight nurse.
The ACE Academy is a partnership between the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) William J. Hughes Technical Center and the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum. MidAtlantic MedEvac has partnered with AtlantiCare to serve the region since June 2005.
