Local Pediatrician Brings First-Time Mom Experience to New Practice

By Sponsored Content

Pediatrician Dr. Veronica Gonzalez-Rivera began seeing patients at CompleteCare Health Network in September, just a few months after becoming a new mom. Although she has been practicing for a few years now, the new addition to her family has brought her new perspective into her patients’ questions and concerns.
“It’s completely different to see parents and their children now that I am a mom,” said Dr. Rivera. “I understand them more, I feel their pain more. I try to be even nicer than I was before to my patients, because I personally know how it feels to have a child and what it’s like when they are sick.”
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Dr. Rivera’s family moved to Puerto Rico where she grew up and attended the University of Puerto Rico for her undergraduate degree in microbiology. She then went on to earn her medical degree from Pontifical “Madre y Maestra” Catholic University in the Dominican Republic. After completing her degree she moved to Florida, became fluent in English and then moved to New York where she completed her residency at Stony Brook University Medical Center and Albany Medical Center.
Since having her son, she has come to work at CompleteCare Health Network’s Cape May Court House and Wildwood locations. CompleteCare Medical and Dental Professionals at 3700 New Jersey Avenue in Wildwood opened in August seeing patients of all ages for medical and dental care, as well as specialties like podiatry and OB/GYN. The Complete Care Medical Professionals site in Cape May Court House moved to a new location last month , 3 Broadway, near 7-Eleven. The site sees patients for adult medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, podiatry, dermatology and ophthalmology.
While working at CompleteCare, Dr. Rivera hopes to continue educating parents about their children’s development, the symptoms and prevention of illness and injury and the treatment options for illness like ADHD, asthma and others.
Dr. Rivera speaks English as well as Spanish and is passionate about her commitment to the Spanish-speaking community, helping them get the best care possible by providing guidance and instructions in both languages.
