April 16 marks National Healthcare Decision Making Day.
Genesis Healthcare will be hosting an open house at Victoria Manor to increase awareness of the need for advanced directives and living wills.
There will be professionals from North Cape Center, Victoria Commons, Victoria Manor and Care Alternatives Hospice available to provide information on advanced directives, living wills, power of attorneys and Do Not Resuscitate orders, assist in completing forms and answer questions you may have on healthcare decision making.
Proper forms will be available to complete on the spot or take home and review on your own.
Completing an advanced directive/living will is the best gift you can give your family and yourself.
Proclaiming your wishes takes stress and burden off your family members and makes sure that actions taken in the final phase of life are what you want. This is a simple act that will mean so much to those who care about you.
Myths and facts about Healthcare Advanced Directives will also be provided at the open house. Two thirds of all adults have no living will or other advanced directive; please educate yourself to learn more about the importance and benefits of getting your wishes on paper.
Advanced Directives are for every adult not just the elderly. Younger adults actually have more at stake, because if stricken by serious disease or accident, medical technology may keep them alive in a vegetative state for decades.
Join us April 16 anytime between 11a.m. and 2 p.m. at Victoria Manor because “your decisions matter.”
Any questions, contact Denise Raymond at 609-602-7193. Victoria Manor is located at 3809 Bayshore Road in North Cape May.
