County’s Final Drive-Through Flu Shot Clinic on Nov.16

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE – The county will hold its final drive-through flu shot clinic for the year on Sunday, Nov. 16.
The clinic will be for residents 16 years of age and older will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Kindle Ford here.
The Cape May County Health Department will administer the shots on a first come – first served basis while supplies last. Residents are asked to wear a short-sleeved shirt, leave their pets at home, and carpool with friends, family, and neighbors to reduce the waiting time.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends annual flu vaccination for children 6 months through 18 years, persons over 50, pregnant women, persons with chronic health conditions, including asthma and diabetes, healthcare workers, and persons who live with or care for persons in one of these high risk groups. “It is particularly important for parents and siblings of young infants to get vaccinated to protect infants who are too young to get their vaccine and are at high risk of influenza complications,” added Freeholder Thornton.
Cape May County Flu Clinics are free of charge for county residents.
A completed consent form is required for the drive-through flu clinic. Consent forms are available at the Department of Health, online at www.cmchealth.net , in local pharmacies and libraries, and in many local newspapers.
Persons with an allergy to eggs, Thimerosal (a preservative in the adult vaccine), or who have been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome need a prescription from their physician to receive a flu vaccine.
Free flu clinics are offered to the community by the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Department of Health. Information on all county flu clinics is available on the flu hotline, 463-6581 and on our website, www.cmchealth.net .
