COURT HOUSE – The American Red Cross is at work helping people devastated by the recent hurricane and flooding. As a result, blood supplies are alarmingly low.
Locally, Cape May County Government is hosting a community blood drive on Mon., Nov. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Crest Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, located at 12 Moore Road in the Crest Haven Complex (Exit 11 off the Garden State Parkway). The blood drive is open to the public and walk-ins are welcome, however, appointments are preferred.
“Each donation can help save up to three lives and that blood can only come from a volunteer donor – a person like you who makes the choice to donate,” said Cape May County Freeholder Gerald Thornton.
Twice a year the county holds a blood drive for employees, their families and friends, and encourages members of the public to donate blood as well.
Freeholder Thornton added, “Cape May County Government employees are to be commended for doing their part. County employees donate on average 120 pints each year.”
To schedule an appointment go to www.redcrossblood.org, click on Account Login (at the far upper right hand of the screen), then click on Sponsor Login, enter zip code 08210 and click on GO; User I.D. is Pat (it is case sensitive); password is capemay; click on Monday, November 28, 2011 and choose your appointment!
