County Hosts Healthcare Resource Day

COURT HOUSE — County Freeholders have invited the public to the county’s third Healthcare Resource Day to take place on Saturday, May 9 at the Wildwoods Convention Center.
The free Healthcare Resource Day sponsored by the Cape May County Health Department will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
There will be more than 40 exhibitors representing various health services provided to county residents at no cost or minimal cost. There will be exhibits from non profit organizations and volunteer groups such as Volunteers in Medicine, South Jersey Aids Alliance and Gilda’s Club. Equally important, will be an array of private sector exhibitors such as the Woodbine Wellness Center, Brendan Borek Fund and Magnolia Medical Day Services. There will also be exhibits on important healthcare facilities within the county, including, Senior Care, Loyalton, and Griswold Special Care.
Also on hand will be other key county departments that play a role in meeting community health needs such as Crest Heaven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Cape May County Home Health Care, Social Services and the Department of Aging.
Additionally, there will be free screenings by the Parish Nurse Program of the Cape Regional Medical Center for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, fracture risk and peripheral artery disease. In addition, special arrangements have been made for oral screenings by local dentists.
One of the major highlights of the day will be presentations by local health experts on major health issues; as follows:
11:30 a.m. – “New Developments You Need to Know About Skin Care”

1 p.m. – “Innovative Steps You Can Take for Healthy Smiles”
