COURT HOUSE – From the Deep South to the Northeast, the American Red Cross is at work in 11 states to help people devastated by the recent tornadoes and floods. As a result, blood donations are direly needed for those victims.
Locally, Cape May County Government is having a community blood drive on Friday, June 24, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Crest Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center located at 12 Moore Road in the Crest Haven Complex (Exit 11 off the Garden State Parkway). The blood drive is open to all walk-ins, family and friends.
Cape May County Freeholder Thornton said, “Each donation can help save up to three lives and that blood can only come from a volunteer donor – a person like you who makes the choice to donate.”
Twice a year the county holds a blood drive for employees, their families and friends and encourages members of the public to donate blood as well. Freeholder Thornton added, “Cape May County Government employees are to be commended for doing their part. County employees donate on average 120 pints each year.”
