COURT HOUSE — Freeholder Gerald Thornton announced that the Cape May County Department of Health will host an American Red Cross blood drive open to the public on Friday, June 11. The blood drive will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Crest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center located at 12 Moore Road in the Crest Haven Complex, exit 11 off the Garden State Parkway.
Freeholder Thornton said, “Every minute of every day someone needs blood and that blood can only come from a volunteer donor – a person like you who makes the choice to donate.” Twice a year the county holds a blood drive for employees, their families and friends and encourages members of the public to donate blood as well.
Cape May County contributes approximately 4,500 units of blood each year. Freeholder Thornton added, “Cape May County Government employees do their part. County employees donate on average 120 pints each year.”
