Cape Regional Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advance Inpatient Diabetes and Wound Care by demonstrating excellence and meeting The Joint Commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety in disease specific care.
The certification recognizes Cape Regional Medical Center’s dedication to continuous improvement and its effective use of clinical practice guidelines and national standards.
Nationally, Cape Regional is one of 14 hospitals to receive Wound Care Certification and one of 38 hospitals to receive Diabetes Certification. They are the second hospital in the State to be recognized for both services.
Wound Care
“Joint Commission certification validates our organizational wide processes for excellence in program management and delivery of clinical care,” explained Judith Horn, PT, DPT, MS, GCS, Certified Wound Specialist and Wound Services program manager. “Patients in the community can attend outpatient services for wound care and education on many types of conditions.”
Wound Care at Cape Regional Medical Center is certified by The Joint Commission and has been providing high quality services since 1998.

Diabetes Care
“Diabetes is a disease that touches all of our lives,” stated Arthur Childs, D.O., president of the Medical Staff at Cape Regional Medical Center. “The Diabetes Team, Performance Improvement, Nursing, and the Medical Staff through their hard work and commitment and dedicated to this quality initiative, has taken an important step in raising the bar to a new level of excellence in the treatment of this pervasive epidemic.”
The Diabetes Center at Cape Regional Medical Center is certified by The Joint Commission for Advanced Inpatient Diabetes and the American Diabetes Association (ADA), and is staffed by Board-certified Diabetes Educators and a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
