COURT HOUSE – Cape Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the installation of a new, advanced CT scanner that can reduce radiation up to 50 percent without compromising image quality. The new, state-of-the-art CT system will help physicians reach diagnoses and provide a safer level of care to patients. The system, The LightSpeed® VCT XTe from GE Healthcare, is a premium 64-slice CT scanner that enables the lowering of radiation while maintaining high quality images throughout the body.
“The addition of the new CT Scanner complements and extends the range of quality diagnostic services available to our community through Cape Regional Medical Center,” stated Dr. Louis Capecci, Chairman of the Department of Radiology and board certified Radiologist. “ASiRTM Technology makes it possible to dramatically reduce radiation to patients; this is especially beneficial for children and young adults,” Dr. Capecci adds.
CT, or computed tomography technology, is often the diagnostic exam of choice when people are ill or injured or when a physician suspects a medical problem that is not easily detectable with a conventional physical examination.
