Cape Regional Health System’s New Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Program

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – The mission of Cape Regional’s Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Program is to improve the health of people who struggle with their weight by providing comprehensive treatment through medical, surgical, dietary, behavioral and educational intervention.
The Bariatric Surgery Program at Cape Regional Health System will guide you through the steps necessary to have surgery, and we will provide you with the tools that are fundamental for weight loss success for many years to come.
Bariatric surgery is highly effective, but requires a significant commitment from the patient after surgery as positive lifestyle choices related to exercise and nutrition will be critical for post-surgery success. Cape Regional has developed and coordinates services that address your needs across the weight loss continuum. The Center for Bariatric Surgery offers comprehensive services provided by specially-trained clinicians who will ensure you have access to the most advanced strategies. Expert, personal guidance by our program manager will ensure you have quick and easy access to all the services that will support you in achieving your weight loss goals.
Pre- and post-surgery elements of the program are offered in the Medical Commons Complex right where the surgeon’s office is located and include: Pre-surgery testing requirements such as behavioral health evaluation, nutrition evaluation and education, and fitness evaluation and program; surgical interventions; post-surgery program and support including: behavioral health support, nutrition education and support, and fitness program.
One of the strengths of the Cape Regional program is the personal care that will be provided by Dr. David Russo, Program Medical Director. Dr. Russo provides each surgical patient with his personal cell phone number to ensure that the highest level of access is provided to each patient and their support team. Assuring that you will have direct access to our experts helps put everyone at ease and reduces stress associated with bariatric surgery, recovery and post-surgical success.
Dr. Russo is Board-Certified in General Surgery, is an experienced bariatric surgeon and specializes in minimally invasive/laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic weight loss surgery.
