RELEASE FROM OFFICE OF CHILD ADVOCATE:
TRENTON — Please help us alert Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Monmouth and Ocean County families to be on the lookout for an express NJ FamilyCare application.
The state will soon be mailing an easy, 1-page application to about 48,000 families in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Monmouth and Ocean counties. These families indicated on their 2008 state tax returns that they have at least one child without health insurance. This is the final mailing of the NJ FamilyCare Express Lane Application.
Each application is in a yellow envelope marked:
NJ FamilyCare Express Lane
Application for Health Insurance
HELP SPREAD THE WORD…
If you work with families who have uninsured children or know people who do, please help alert these families to the mailings in their counties.
The Department of Human Services is mailing this “express” application to all families who indicated on state tax returns that their children are uninsured. The mailings are going out in regional stages to ensure prompt processing of new applications. This shortened application gives parents a quick and easy way to secure health coverage for their children.
Data from New Jersey tax returns show that tax filers reported 450,000 uninsured children living in about a quarter-million families. New Jersey is the first state in the nation to use this information to enroll more children in the state’s FamilyCare program, which provides free or low-cost health insurance to eligible parents and children.
