Golden Heart Adult Day Care is a new adult day care that, although located in Somers Point, provides care and transportation to residents of both Cape May and Atlantic Counties. Golden Heart just celebrated its one year anniversary on Valentine’s Day and it is filling with clients from both counties.
Golden Heart is a small facility that offers individualized care which enables the clients to feel at home. The staff views the center as belonging to the clients and therefore encourages the clients to participate in the decisions regarding the type of program that they want to have.
The staff at Golden Heart is comprised of highly qualified professionals. The Administrator is JoAnn Brown ADC, CALA. Ann Zilinek RN, BSN is the Director of Nursing. Michael Hainsworth MSW, LSW is the Director of Social Work. Maria Leonard is the Activity Director and Corie Matthews is a Certified Medical Assistant. The staff also includes three drivers, all who hold CDL licenses. Ron Buck is the Driver for Cape May County, Rosetta Wyman is the Driver for Atlantic County, and Ana Alicea is a Driver for both counties.
This highly experienced staff works together to make the day at Golden Heart a happy and fun-filled day for everyone. The activities at Golden Heart consist of a daily exercise program, interactive sports, games, arts and crafts, walking club and weekly trips for shopping, banking and the library.
Other activities also include pet therapy, music entertainers and a weekly spiritual service. In addition to all these fun and interesting activities, the client also has all their medical and personal needs met. The registered nurse and medical assistant assist clients with any personal care they may need during the day. The client’s medical status is monitored closely in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Any medications or treatments that the client may need during the day can be administered by the registered nurse so there is no interruption in the client’s schedule while they are in the program. A registered dietician, pharmacist, and medical director are available as consultants to assist in maintaining health. Transportation is provided to all physician and physical therapy appointments. The nurse works closely with each client’s physician to ensure that each client’s own personal medical needs are met.
