Learn About Extending the Vegetable Gardening Season at Rutgers Cooperative Extension

COURT HOUSE – Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources will hold the workshop, “Extending the Vegetable Gardening Season,” Sept. 12.
According to a release, the workshop, part of the Garden & Grow series, will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Court House – South Dennis Road, Court House.
The presenter will be Jen Sawyer, Rutgers master gardener coordinator for Cape May County. Topics will include planting cold-hardy crops for overwintering, using row covers, and getting a jump on spring planting and harvesting.
There will be a hands-on portion where participants will learn what to plant in the fall for a spring harvest and will also get a plant to take home for their fall garden.
The goal of the Garden & Grow workshop series is to teach locals how to improve or expand their home gardens in new ways.
This is a beginner class no experience is needed. There is a fee that includes dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program at 6 p.m. Registration is limited to 30, so please register early at https://bit.ly/2VCiuYV.
