Looks like we’re finally fishing. It’s always great when the pictures write the column.
Sterling Harbor Bait & Tackle has re-opened for the 2011 season. Their first report says that the few boats that ventured out over Easter weekend were rewarded with nice catches of tautog and keeper striped bass right in the back bays. Stripers are being caught all along the shores of the Delaware Bay and all the way up to Philadelphia. There were a few reports of black drum being caught in the Delaware Bay and from the beach. Clam is the bait of choice.
SH also sends this important reminder: Don’t forget fluke season opens May 7, so it’s time to get ready. Some reports are that the flounder are already here.
Captain Stan of Canyon Clipper Charters is catching stripers in the 28 to 40-inch range with some throw backs. Drum are here, too, in the 30-pound range. He says, “It wont be long for the big one with the water temp going up this week.“ First time report for Captain Stan in this column so I’ll give you all his contact info, 374-4660.

Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
