Well, it’s another typical Cape May County winter week. A day or two with temperatures in the 40s, which leads to thoughts of getting the line wet somewhere, then winter’s reality (aka cold and windy) returns. Due to that, all reports of the fresh or salt variety, are non-existent.
What I have been receiving is a lot of well-wishes from family, friends, co-workers, and others in the fishing community. I would like to thank all of them for their support. Some from the local fishing community I have met previously, while others are totally new. I want to get re-acquainted with the known ones, and look forward to meeting the others.
A reminder for another boat show and expo in our area. The 2015 Boat Sale and Expo is being held Feb. 19 – 22 at the N.J. Convention and Expo Center at the Raritan Center in Edison. Many of New Jersey’s top boating dealers will be represented. They will feature many of the most popular lines in boating. Other features are a marketplace for different boating accessories. On Saturday (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) there will be a series of activities for the younger anglers and boaters.
On Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., a series of safety topics will be covered. The workshop for junior boater’s safety would actually be good for older boaters also. Finally, from Thursday through Sunday there will be a series of seminars ranging from Bunkers and Bass in the spring, to Picking the Right Rod, Reel and Lure, to catching big doormats, to The Sport Fishing History of New Jersey. Other seminars are available. For more information about the show go to: www.JerseyBoatExpo.com.
Out and about: Recently I was passing East Creek Pond on Route 347 and saw that about half the lake was frozen. I had a quick thought of catching some bass or pickerel, and also watching some of the eagles that fly near the lake. The ice brought me back to reality as I drove by. Someday soon.
A few days later we were up in the Atlantic City area and got a quick look at the Bass Pro Shop. It seems to be moving right along as opening day gets closer. As always, keep in touch and let me know where your fishing trips take you. If there is anything going on that you would like covered, please let me know.
Thanks again, and now for a couple pictures to give everyone a case of fishing fever(above).
