Sea Isle City to Host Surf Fishing Tournament

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – Many surf fishing enthusiasts will converge in Sea Isle City on May 14 during the Delaware Valley Surf Anglers Association’s (DSVAA) 30th Annual Karl J. Boehret Surf Fishing Tournament. The yearly event, which is regularly held in Sea Isle City, is named in honor of a long-time association member who first joined the DSVAA in 1958, one year after that organization was founded. Boehret served as the DSVAA’s club treasurer from 1958 until his death in 1991.
The 2011 DSVA Surf Fishing Tournament is open to men, women and children who can fish as individuals or in teams of up to six people. The fee to participate is $8.00 per person and $50 per team. Anglers can pre-register by mailing checks (made out to DVSAA) to 24 Lake Vista Drive, Cape May, NJ 08210. Participants can also register on the day of the tournament at the Sea Isle City Community Lodge, JFK Boulevard and Park Road, between 5:30 and 7:00 a.m.
During the tournament, participants will be permitted to drive their four-wheel drive vehicles onto the beach without the need of a beach access permit. However, organizers request that teams limit themselves to two vehicles. Transportation will be provided for those who do not have access to a four-wheel drive vehicle. Anglers in need of transportation must make a request at the time of registration. For additional information and restrictions regarding beach access during the tournament, inquire at registration.
Prevailing A.S.A.C. tournament rules will be observed during this event. Awards and a complimentary luncheon will be presented to participants after the competition at 1:00 p.m. inside the Sea Isle City Community Lodge. Prizes will be distributed in various divisions, including youth and women’s categories. There will also be a Mayor’s trophy, which will be presented to the angler who catches the largest fish in the tournament. Many door prizes will also be distributed during the luncheon, including an array of fishing equipment.
