Enjoy a Free Holiday Nature Craft Demonstration

By Sponsored Content

CAPE MAY – Discover nature’s bounty and create a work of holiday art! The Friends of Cape May National Wildlife Refuge will present a special free Holiday Nature Craft Demonstration on Dec. 21, at 10 a.m., at the Two Mile Beach Unit of the Refuge.
Join Volunteer Master Naturalist and Friends board member Joe Alvarez as he explains and demonstrates how to use some of our local native plants in an environmentally sustainable way to create beautiful winter holiday decorations for your home. Many of these decorations, such as winged sumac and holly, can also be placed outdoors after the holidays for the benefit of birds and other wildlife! Learn how to find and choose the best materials to use, and how to sustainably harvest these plants. Weather permitting, even though harvesting plants is not allowed on the Refuge, we will take a guided walk outside and learn to identify many of the native plants Joe uses in his demonstrations.
This program is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required. After the program, the public is invited to relax and do some last-minute holiday shopping for the nature-lover in your family in the newly-opened Nature Store at Two Mile. Please meet at the Visitors Contact Station at the Two Mile Beach Unit of Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, 12001 Pacific Ave (Ocean Dr), Wildwood Crest, near the former Coast Guard Loran Station. For more information or directions, please call 609-513-9349.
