WILDWOOD – The Wildwood High School football team hosted Haddon Township this past Friday night for their first home game of the season. The visiting Hawks scored early and often, leading them to a 43-6 victory.
Late in the third quarter, Warriors’ quarterback Christian Tyson connected a 23-yard touchdown pass to Nate Lopez to get the team on the board.
The Warriors (0-2) will travel to Gloucester City (2-1) on Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Elsewhere in Cape May County Football:
In Friday night action, Middle Township (2-1) won 19-7 on the road at Mainland Regional. Panthers’ quarterback Cameron Hamer threw a 54-yard touchdown to Seth Loeffler in the first quarter. After being tied 7-7 at the half, junior running back David Hayes scored two touchdowns in the second half to secure the win. The Panthers will host Buena Regional (1-1) this Friday at 6 p.m.
Lower Cape May (0-2) fell 49-6 at Absegami this past Friday night. Caper Tigers’ quarterback Brennan Ray scored the lone touchdown on a 15-yard run. They will return home Friday night to host Holy Spirit (1-1) at 7 p.m.
Ocean City (1-0) was not in action this past Friday night. The Red Raiders will return Saturday afternoon when they travel to Cedar Creek (1-1). The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Egg Harbor City.
