Boys Basketball:
On the opening night of the annual Boardwalk Basketball Classic tournament on Dec. 23 in Wildwood, Ocean City won 56-50 over Burlington City. Donovan Graham, Luke Varallo and Issac Robertson each scored 13 points for the Red Raiders.
Middle Township won 60-54 over rival Lower Cape May. Mack Selby scored a team-high 23 points for the Panthers with Coley Holton and Jalen Freeman posting double figures. For the Caper Tigers, Pat Holden led the team with 23 points with Martin Anguelov adding 14 points.
The Wildwood Catholic boys won the Andrew Alameno Island Championship game over rival Wildwood, 74-44. Charles Fields led the Crusaders with 16 points while Caleb Fields, Taj Thweatt and Matt Capozzoli each posted double figures. For the Warriors, Tyler Tomlin led all scorers with 19 points with Kyion Flanders adding 12 points.
Girls Basketball:
On the opening night of the annual Boardwalk Basketball Classic tournament in Wildwood on Dec. 23, Wildwood Catholic won big over Bridgeton, 48-24. Crusaders’ Marianna Papazoglou led all scorers with 24 points and 12 rebounds for a double double.
Wildwood won 42-34 over Lower Cape May. Maddie McCracken led the Warriors with a game-high 23 points. Caper Tigers’ Olivia Levin scored a team-high 16 points while Tayanis Torres added 10 points.
Middle Township fell in close game to Atlantic City, 42-39. Panthers’ Kira Sides led all scorers with 17 points while Victoria London added 11 points.
