COURT HOUSE – On Monday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m., moviegoers will be given a rare opportunity to see Chad Juros perform and speak about magic. Juros, an acclaimed magician from New Jersey, will be the featured guest speaker at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center “Monday Night at the Movies” series following the showing of the documentary “Deceptive Practice: The Mysteries and Mentors of Ricky Jay”.
The film centers on Brooklyn-born Ricky Jay, a best-selling author, historian and magician.
As a teenager, Juros bravely fought Leukemia and his father would use magic to distract Chad from the fear and pain he was enduring. While receiving his treatments, Chad would lie in his hospital bed and practice making magic for hours a day. Each week his dad would teach him new tricks to master.
In 1998, Chad was released from the hospital and is now an international performer and lecturer. He spreads his magical message to children’s hospitals, foundations, corporate events and more. Chad has taken his act as far as Aruba, where he was invited numerous times by the Prime Minister to perform for under-privileged families of his island. Chad is also the youngest magician ever to perform at The White House by special invitation of President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. Chad has been featured on the hit TV show “Criss Angel Mindfreak” on the A&E network and appeared on the show “Dinner Impossible” on the Food Network. Chad has also performed at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. Visit www.ChadJuros.com for more information.
Kay Aspell, managing director of The PAC, said the movie series, which is produced in conjunction with advertising agency ProMedia Group, is designed to present entertaining and educational films not usually shown in this area and on a big screen in a comfortable state-of-the-art theater. The series runs into May.
Tickets are $8 and may be purchased at the box office or reserved by calling 463-1924. The Performing Arts Center is situated at 212 Bayberry Drive, Cape May Court House, one mile east of exit 10 of the Garden State Parkway. There is free parking on the premises.
