Chef Louis Solometo (middle) from Goodfish Grill took top place honors, while Chef Daniel Otero (left), corporate chef for Nordstrom in Cherry Hill, placed second and Chef Peter Brown (right) from Alethea’s came in third for the Chefs’ Cook-off at the Cape May Winery, part of the 14th annual Cape May Food & Wine Festival.
The Chefs’ Cook-Off is a test of talent, skill and speed during which chefs are presented with a mystery protein and must race against the clock to prepare a dish on the spot.
This year’s mystery protein was salmon. The people have voted and the results are in; the first place winner of the People’s Choice Chowder Contest is Tisha’s (chowder #5). Fish ‘N’ Fancy (chowder #1) won second place and Rusty Nail (chowder #6) took third place in the contest. Many thanks go out to all the other restaurants that entered the chowder contest: Alethea’s, Goodfish Grill and Island Grill. All proceeds from the People’s Choice Chowder Contest benefit the Cape May Kiwanis Club.
The 14th annual Cape May Food & Wine Festival is presented by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), in conjunction with Cape May’s restaurant community. MAC is a multifaceted not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation, and cultural enrichment of the Cape May region for its residents and visitors.
