Wildwoods’ Tram Car Recording to Change Leading Up to Harlem Globetrotters’ Arrival

By Press Release

THE WILDWOODS – Floss Stingel will get behind the microphone and make a new recording for the Wildwood’s famous Sightseer Tram Car on Wednesday, August 3 at 10 a.m. inside the Wildwoods Convention Center lobby, located at 4501 Boardwalk (Burk Avenue & Boardwalk) in Wildwood. Stingel, who recorded “Watch the Tram Car, Please” in 1971, will once again get on the microphone to record “Watch the Globetrotters, Please.”
The new recording will be used when the full team of 10 Harlem Globetrotters steps off a Greyhound bus and onto a Wildwoods’ Boardwalk Sightseer Tram Car on Wednesday, August 10 at 1:30 p.m. The Globetrotters will perform their ball handling magic and interact with fans as they ride up the boardwalk, starting at Rio Grande Avenue, with the sounds of Stingel’s new recording and Sweet Georgia Brown playing over the tram car’s speakers.
Stingel’s original recording in 1971, ironically, came the same year as the Globetrotters last lost to the Washington Generals (January 5, 1971 in Martin, Tennessee). Adding to the irony, Greyhound, who supplies the Globetrotters transportation around the country, manufactured the Wildwoods’ Tram Cars for the 1939 World’s Fair.
The Globetrotters will play four games at the Wildwoods Convention Center from Wednesday, August. 10 through Saturday, August. 13; with games nightly at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at www.harlemglobetrotters.com.
