Wildwoods to Host Free Summer Slam Sports and Musical Festival

By Press Release

THE WILDWOODS – The next free big concert event at the Jersey Shore was announced at a Press Conference held on the Wildwoods Boardwalk exactly one year to the date that Kenny Chesney performed here. The 106.3 WJSE Summer Slam Sports and Music Festival will take place on Aug. 24 starting at 11 a.m. on the Wildwood beach between Mariner’s Landing Amusement Pier at Schellenger Avenue and Adventure Pier at Spencer Avenue . The concert will feature headline bands including Fuel, whose top hits include Shimmer, Hemorrhage (In My Hands), Bad Day, and Falls on Me; as well as bands Hoobastank, Lit and Alien Ant Farm.
The Sports and Music Festival is presented by 106.3 WJSE Radio with additional sponsorships from the Philadelphia Soul, Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority, Coors Light, the City of Wildwood, Walgreens, Svedka Vodka, and the Wildwood Special Improvement District. This FREE concert will take place in conjunction with the Philadelphia Soul Summer Slam, now in its eighth consecutive year, and a large flag football tournament organized by the Philadelphia Sport and Social Club. The men’s 7-on-7 and co-ed 8-on-8 flag football tournament will begin at 9am on the beach. To register your team now, go to www.playphillysports.com.
In addition to the musical acts provided by WJSE, the 106.3 WJSE Summer Slam Sports and Music Festival will feature Coors Light beer sales, soda and food vendors, along with a silent auction table with autographed items from the Philadelphia Soul team, owner Ron Jaworski and other Philadelphia sports teams as well as interactive rides and games for kids. The Soul will also be holding a Merchandise Blowout Sale for fans to bring home their favorite Soul gear. In attendance will be Soul players, coaches, the Soulmates and team mascot Soulman.
Fans are invited to continue the celebration with Philadelphia Soul players and Soulmates at the post event party at the Boardwalk Bar and Grill (3500 Atlantic Ave) from 7-9 p.m. Food and drink specials will be available.
“The Soul has been a great friend of our stations and the entire City of Wildwood for many years,” said Coastal Broadcasting’s owner and president Bob Maschio. “We are excited to leverage the success of our new station, WJSE, New Jersey’s only alternative rock station, to bring in top notch musical acts and create a phenomenal event for Soul fans, Wildwood residents and tourists.”
“Summer Slam has always been a great event,” said Soul Vice President/COO John Adams. “Partnering with WJSE takes Soul Summer Slam to another level and will prove to be an amazing end of season event for our fans while introducing the Soul to potential new fans”
“We are so excited to be a sponsor of the 106.3 WJSE Summer Slam Sports and Music Festival this summer,” John Siciliano, Executive Director/CFO for GWTIDA explained. “The Kenny Chesney concert last summer was a big hit, so being able to be a part of bringing another free concert to the Wildwoods with headliners like Fuel, Hoobastank, Lit and Alien Aunt Farm is another opportunity for us to showcase the Wildwood’s beach as a premier concert venue,” he continued.
Although the concert is free, you must have a ticket to enter the concert area. A limited amount of tickets will be available through wjserocks.com, Philadelphiasoul.com and ticketfly.com. Those tickets will be made available on July 1. Philadelphia Soul season ticket holders will also receive a ‘presale’ for concert tickets.
