Wildwood Hosts Country Festival Oct. 22-23

WILDWOOD — A free, outdoor Country Festival featuring live country music, vintage pickup trucks, food, contests and radio personalities will be one of the many highlights during the first Wildwoods Country Music Weekend Fri., Oct. 22 and Sat., Oct. 23 in the Wildwoods.
The first Wildwoods Country Music Weekend, kicks off with the Starlight Roadhouse Country Dance Party on Fri., Oct. 22 from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Wildwoods Convention Center’s Starlight Ballroom, located 4501 Boardwalk in Wildwood.
The dance party features live country dance music by After the Reign – a country band who has played across the country, opening for Diamond Rio, Vince Gill, Charlie Daniels, and Johnny Paycheck – along with contemporary country DJ Cowboy Kenn between sets and line dancing lessons with Vicki Cusack.
General admission tickets for the Starlight Roadhouse Country Dance Party are $12 per person and are on sale at www.WildwoodsCountry.com or by phone at 888-448-7641.
The Festival will also take place Sat., Oct 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Fox Park, located at Burk and Ocean Avenues across from the Wildwoods Convention Center. Plans for the festival include a vintage pickup truck show, vendors selling country attire and memorabilia, crafts, food, contests and more. In addition, area postmasters will unveil the new “Cowboys of the Silver Screen” stamps honoring Roy Rogers, Tom Mix, William S. Hart, and Gene Autry. The Wildwoods Country Music Festival is free to attend and is presented in cooperation with the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce.
The Festival will also feature morning show host and program director for Cat Country 107.3FM, Joe Kelly, as emcee for the day’s free live entertainment with music from Tequila Rose, Due South, and the Ann Oswald Band.
Tequila Rose has been playing the top clubs, honky tonks and festivals on the Country circuit for years, always keeping their huge and loyal fan base dancing to the latest Country songs by Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and many others.
Due South is one of New Jersey’s premier country bands, performing hits from artists such as Brooks and Dunn, Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum, Sugarland, and Kenny Chesney, among many others. It also covers music from legendary performers like Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash.
Ann Oswald started her professional music career 15 years ago, though she has been playing guitar and writing her own original music since grade school. She first took to the stage with a female duo, performing throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Ann continues to perform with her band in New Jersey and surrounding states and continues to travel and perform in Nashville, as well. She recently released her fourth CD, “Now I Know.”
Sawyer Brown will headline the Wildwoods Country Showcase concert Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Wildwoods Convention Center’s Oceanfront Arena. The concert will also feature performances by Josh Gracin and female duo Bomshel. Tickets for the concert are $42.95 for arena seats and $52.95 for floor-level seats and are available for sale at www.WildwoodsCountry.com or by phone at 888-448-7641.
Tickets will also be available at the door day of show. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce information center at Exit 11 of the Garden State Parkway daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Call the Chamber at 609-465-7181 for information.
