WILDWOOD CREST – The Borough of Wildwood Crest has planned its largest Summer Music Series schedule to date.
A total of 29 evenings of live musical entertainment for the entire family are on tap in the eighth annual Wildwood Crest Free Summer Music Series, which is set to begin next week. Live music will be held at 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday and Saturday from June 24 through Sept. 5 at the entertainment pavilion at Centennial Park, located at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue.
The series is set to begin June 24 with Mother’s Worry, performing a popular classic rock revue featuring hits from the 1960s through the 1980s. The first Saturday show, June 27, will feature Don’t Call Me Francis, one of the longest-running and most popular dance/party bands on the East Coast.
In addition, the Wildwood Crest Summer Music Series will feature seven Monday evening performances from July 6 through Aug. 17 at the Gazebo-by-the-Sea at Sunrise Park at Rambler Road, located at Rambler Road and Ocean Avenue.
Saturday entertainment includes some of the best-known cover and tribute bands from throughout the Delaware Valley and beyond. In addition to Don’t Call Me Francis, Centennial Park favorites such as The B Street Band (Bruce Springsteen tribute), the Chatterband (dance/party music), Bennie & the Jets (Elton John tribute), Jamison Celtic Rock (Irish pop/rock) and Purple Reign (dance/party hits) and more are set to return. New Saturday evening acts on this summer’s schedule include the Glimmer Twins (Rolling Stones tribute), Showtime Dance Band (dance/party/oldies/Motown hits) and Big House (pop/dance/party hits).
Wednesday’s musical acts include many up-and-coming artists and local favorites performing rock, pop, dance and more. Wednesday musicians include Stellar Mojo (pop/rock/funk hits), Kick It Out (Heart tribute), Street Life Serenade (Billy Joel tribute), Christopher Dean Band (rhythm and blues) and much more.
Monday evening shows at the Gazebo-by-the-Sea will feature smaller, more intimate performances by duos and trios, all of which have local ties.
“As always, we look forward to the start of our summer music series each year,” said Wildwood Crest Commissioner Don Cabrera. “Attending Summer Music Series shows at Centennial Park has become a rite of passage for many visitors and residents alike each summer here in the Crest. We’re excited about our traditional Wednesday and Saturday evening schedule, plus we’re very pleased to be able to add additional live musical entertainment on Monday evenings at the Gazebo. These shows really are a great night out for the entire family.”
Those attending any of the performances at Centennial Park and the Gazebo-by-the-Sea should bring a blanket or a chair.
All shows are free and open to the entire family.
The Wildwood Crest Summer Music Series is supported by the Wildwood Crest Tourism Development Commission and the Wildwood Crest Recreation Department.
