Wildwood Crest Seafarers Celebration is Sat., Sept. 25

By Press Release

WILDWOOD CREST – The Borough of Wildwood Crest will host its annual Seafarers Celebration Saturday, Sept. 25, a FREE all-day festival that will take place at both Sunset Lake and Centennial Park.
The Seafarers Celebration will begin at 9 a.m. at Sunset Lake, located along New Jersey Avenue between Rambler and Miami roads. Scores of arts and crafts vendors and a variety of food vendors will line the Sunset Lake area. The event will also include live music, lots of children’s and family entertainment and much more.
At 6 p.m., the festival moves to the beachfront at Centennial Park, located at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue. Included will be more live music, a special appearance by a Philadelphia-area string band and more. A spectacular beachfront fireworks show will go off at 9 p.m.
Daytime live musical entertainment along Sunset Lake includes The Star Band (oldies/Motown/pop), Twelve:01 (classic/contemporary rock), Ann Oswald (country/southern rock), Pins and Needles (classic/contemporary rock) and Michael James (‘60s-‘90s pop). Live music will begin at 11 a.m. and continue through 4 p.m.
Other entertainment along Sunset Lake includes Kamp Kreatures children’s puppet show (as seen on TV), an exotic bird show, pony rides for children, all-ages magic shows, karaoke for all ages, a stilt walker, face painting, children’s bounce houses and more.
More great live music is on tap when the event shifts to Centennial Park. Local favorites The Nobody Band will kick off the evening’s entertainment at 6 p.m. with classic rock, followed by an appearance by the regionally famous Hegeman String Band, straight from the Mummer’s Parade in Philadelphia, at approximately 7:15 p.m.
At about 7:45 p.m., the headliners for the evening, dance/party band Bandstand, will take the stage performing some of the most popular dance and party music from the 1960s through today.
At 9 p.m., the Seafarers Celebration’s spectacular fireworks show will begin, with fireworks shot from the beach at Fern Road.
In addition, with the Borough of Wildwood Crest celebrating its Centennial year in 2010, Centennial merchandise, including T-shirts, books, sweatshirts and more, will be for sale during the entire event.
The event is free to the public.
