WILDWOOD CREST — The Borough of Wildwood Crest will stage its annual 5K Beach Race Aug. 2 at 8:30 a.m. The race will be held on an out-and-back course near the water’s edge at low tide beginning and ending at the edge of the Wildwood Crest Beach Pier at Heather Road. The event also includes an untimed one-mile run/walk.
Cost is $20 for the 5K run and $15 for the one-mile run/walk for those registered by Friday, July 25. Costs are $25 and $20 after July 25. Long-sleeve T-shirts will be given to all registered by July 25 and as supplies last to those registered after July 25.
Race-day registration will be held at the Crest Pier Recreation Center at Heather Road and Ocean Avenue beginning at 7 a.m. Pre-registered runners can pick up their race packet at the Crest Pier Recreation Center on Aug. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The 5K Beach Race is a rain or shine event. An awards ceremony will be held immediately following the race at the Crest Pier Recreation Center. Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female finishers in a variety of age groups. Numerous door prizes will also be distributed at random to race participants.
