By Press Release

WILDWOOD — The Wildwood Civic Club will host the 101st Wildwood’s Baby Parade on Wed., Aug. 4 with a rain date on Thur., Aug. 5. Registration will begin at 5 p.m. at the Wildwoods Convention Center, located at Burk Avenue and the Boardwalk in Wildwood.

Grand Marshals for the 2010 Baby Parade are Commander Harry Tweed and members of the American Legion Byron Pennington Post 184; Tom Martino and members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Michael P. Callahan Chapter 955; and District 17 Commander I.P. Anderson and members of the VFW.
The Wildwoods Baby Parade Committee – composed of local volunteers, Civic Club Members, a Representative from Greater Wildwood Tourism Improvement and Development Authority and a representative from Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce – select a Grand Marshal every year based on their commitment and dedication to the Wildwoods.
The Committee released the following statement about this year’s Grand Marshals, “The Wildwoods celebrated the unveiling of the Wildwoods Vietnam Memorial Wall during the 2010 Memorial Day Weekend. It was without a doubt one of our proudest moments as a community. Because of the fine men and women of these wonderful organizations, our community came together to honor the sacrifices that were made for our freedom.
“They have given us and our children a permanent reminder of those 58,000 plus men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice for that very same freedom we enjoy today and that we need to protect for tomorrow. Honoring these groups as the Grand Marshals of the 101st Wildwoods Baby Parade is the least we could do for all they have given to the Wildwoods and our country.”
Miss Oceanic, along with her court, will serve as the Queen of the Parade. Other special appearances scheduled for the parade include city officials, Miss North Wildwood, Duffy Stringband, North Wildwood Lifeguard Band, the Phillie Phanatic, Elmo, Light House Pete, SWOOP, Ronald McDonald, The United Way Duck and many more.
Participation in the Wildwoods Baby Parade is free.
Donations of food and baby care items for the United Way of Cape May County are being accepted at registration.
A complimentary trolley service will be available throughout the parade to transport participants between the parking area surrounding the Wildwoods Convention Center and 16th Street.
