WheatonArts Winter Schedule Begins Jan. 6

MILLVILLE — Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center begins its winter operating schedule on Jan. 6. In Jan., Feb. and March the museum stores will be open Fri., Sat. and Sun. only from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Artist Studios are closed during these three months. In addition, during these same months, the Museum of American Glass will be closed to install new exhibitions and change the appearance of the permanent collection. The museum and the studios will reopen on April 1 when WheatonArts returns to its six-day operating schedule.
WheatonArts is a participant in Museums on Us®, a customer-benefit program offering free admission for a Bank of America cardholder to the finest museums and cultural institutions from coast to coast on the first full weekend of each month of 2014. In March, each Bank of America customer that shows their Bank of America card and their I.D. on the program dates will receive a “20% Off A Single-Item” coupon valid in one museum store.
The Museum of American Glass will open for the Mid-Winter Antiques Show on Feb. 1 and 2 and Quilt Show on March 15 and 16. The museum will open two new exhibitions on April 1 in honor of the state of New Jersey’s 350th anniversary. “NJ350: Through the Lens of Glass” will explore the relationship between glass and South Jersey culture. “Object Conversations: NJ350” will be a participatory exhibit that engages visitors with the process of history by asking them to share their connections with South Jersey glass pieces from the collection.
The Mid-Winter Antiques Show, Feb. 1 and 2, features books, ceramics, furniture, glass, jewelry, linens, memorabilia, paper, pottery, primitives, and vintage accessories. Hours: Sat., Feb. 1 – Members Preview at 9:30 a.m. General Public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sun., Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5.00 per person. The Museum of American Glass and the Museum Stores will be open both days. Food and refreshments are available for purchase.
Presented by The Garden Patch Quilters (National Quilting Association Chapter 541), the “A Garden of Quilts” Quilt Show, March 15 and 16, showcases over 200 traditional and contemporary quilts in the Event Center. It is the largest judged quilt show in South Jersey. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $5.00 per person. The Museum of American Glass and the Museum Stores will be open both days. Food and refreshments are available for purchase in the Event Center.

■ March 22: Kids Activity: Spring Pointillism from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Down Jersey Folklife Center will be open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. March 29. Stages Festival. “If You Give a Moose a Muffin.” Presented by The Centenary Theatre at 2 p.m. in the Event Center. Free admission.
