OCEAN CITY — The Annual Ocean City City-Wide Yard Sale is set for Sat., May 7 from 8 a.m. to
1 p.m. at the Tabernacle Grounds 5th and Asbury Ave. and at home locations throughout the City.
Maps showing the home locations will be available on Thurs., May 5 at City Hall Annex, 901 Asbury Ave., the City Hall Information Desk at the 9th St. entrance to City Hall, the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, 16 E. 9th St., across from TD Bank and at the Tabernacle Grounds the day of the Sale.
Shops downtown and on the Boardwalk will have table sales all weekend long with plenty of bargains. The Downtown and Boardwalk will also celebrate with free Flower Giveaways to mothers at participating stores.
Mother’s Day Concert: The West Chester Senior Strings Orchestra directed by Charles de Pasquale, will present its 14th Annual Mother’s Day Concert, 4 p.m., Sun., May 8th at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Admission is free.
The award winning Orchestra is composed of advanced students selected from three High Schools in West Chester, Pa.
The group will offer selections in classical and contemporary music. Recently, the Orchestra won the Gold First Place Trophy and the Orchestra Grand Champion Trophy in a student competition at Orlando, Florida.
The Annual Mother’s Day Concert is presented by the Ocean City Arts Center’s Friends of Music, an organization founded by Esther C. Weil, a beloved resident and promoter of music both in Ocean City and Philadelphia. For information, contact Judy Perkins,

The Ocean City Kidney Walk, one of many charitable walks held here, is set for Sat., May 7 starting 10:30 a.m. in front of the Music Pier, with registration starting 9 a.m. All ages are welcome to join the fun to benefit the National Kidney Foundation. Ocean City’s Annual Mile Long Spring Block Party is set for Sat., May 14 from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from 5th to 14th Streets on Asbury Ave. The event will feature over 400 crafters and food vendors.
There will be live entertainment from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and free pony rides for children at the Tabernacle grounds off Sixth and Asbury Ave., during those same hours. There will be free parking at the Transportation Center, 10th and Haven Ave., in back of McDonalds and at Municipal Parking Lots. Municipal Lots are located at 5th and Asbury Ave. and Central Ave. between Seventh and Ninth Sts.
Merchants’ sidewalk sales will be held Sun., May 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Block Party is sponsored by the Ocean City Retail Merchants Assn.
Library Events : The following free events will be held at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 17th and Simpson Ave.
The Library Book Club will meet Sat., May 7 at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room N111. The Club meets the first Saturday of the month from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.Refreshments will be provided by Ocean City Coffee Company.
The Classic Film Series with Dr. Walter Brown will meet on Mon., May 9 at 6 p.m. showing Family Plot in the Lecture Room, N110. The club meets twice a month on Monday nights from 6 to 8:30 p.m. showing classic films. Dr. Brown will present each film and briefly discuss how it relates to American Heroes and Myths.
A lecture on the Supreme Court will be presented by Dr. Linda J. Wharton, Associate Professor of Political Science at Richard Stockton College. It will be held on Tuesday, May 10 at 6 p.m. in Lecture Room N110.The talk will focus on the impact of the departures of Justices O’Conner, Stevens and Souter on the ideological balance of the Court. It will also address some recent high profile decisions and issues the Court will likely consider in upcoming terms.

A Calendar item: The Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale, America’s Ambassadors of Song, will perform, at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 8th and Central Ave., on Sat., June 25. Doors open for general seating at 6:30 p.m. for 7 p.m. concert.
