Oct. 26: The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce presents Welcome Night for all Ocean City residents at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace from 6 to 8 p.m. This free event acquaints residents and newcomers with services and organizations in the community. It is an informative night with free refreshments and giveaways. Admission is free. For information, call (609) 399-1412.
Oct. 27: The City’s Annual Halloween Parade will be held 7:15 p.m. from 6 to 11th Sts. on Asbury Ave.Call 1-800-813-5580 or www.ochp.blogspot.com. to register. The Parade is sponsored and produced by the Ocean City Exchange Club.
Oct. 27: Former Ocean City resident and outstanding musician Ed Shiffler will be featured at New York’s Tammany Hall with his award winning rock band, Dogz of Zeus at their Halloween Record Release Party. The band has just been signed to a record deal. This will be a great evening of entertainment. A bus will be leaving for the show at
5 p.m., Oct. 27 from the City’s Bus Terminal, 10th and Haven Ave. Tickets are $50 and

Oct. 28: The Community Arts Project will hold its 5th Annual Costume Party, “Lost At Sea” from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Flanders Hotel, 11th and Boardwalk. This is a Shipwrecked Ghost themed party and a great way to celebrate Halloween with friends while assisting a worthwhile cause. The party features food, refreshments, dancing, and a complimentary photograph. Tickets are $65 a person, call (609) 425-2687 or visit www.communityartprojects.com.
Oct. 29: Downtown Merchants will hold Trick or Treat from 2 to 4 p.m. from 6th to 11th Sts. on Asbury Ave. Call (609) 525-9300 for information. The event is sponsored by the Upper Township Soccer Assn.
Oct. 29: Paper Shredding and Electronics Recycling Day will be held from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Shelter Rd. Recycling Center off Tennessee Ave. The service is free to Ocean City residents with a valid driver’s license or other form of valid identification The Shredding Service is provided by a highly secure, mobile shredding unit that will accept all types of paper as well as paper clips and staples. Residents should bring paper in paper bags or boxes to the mobile shredding unit that will be located in the parking area of the Shelter Rd. Recycling Center.
Electronics that will be accepted for recycling include small appliances, televisions, stereos, camcorders, computers, monitors, lap tops and desk phones. Only items less than 50 pounds will be accepted. For larger items please call the Ocean City Public Works Department, (609) 399-6111, Mon.-Fri., 8:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. to schedule pick-up.
Residents may also bring old cell phones and chargers to be collected by the Marine Corps League’s Cell Phone Recycling Program. The program exchanges old cell phones for phone cards for soldiers stationed over seas.
Oct. 30: Woof! Woof! The winner of the Dog of the Year Contest will be announced at noon on the sun deck of the Port O’Call, 15th and Boardwalk. The announcement will be followed by the Howling for Hounds Best Dressed Contest at approximately 12:30 p.m. All doggies are welcome to the event as are their best friends.

Oct. 30: Trick or Trot, a Halloween 5K and 1 mile Fun run/walk begins 7:30 a.m. at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. For information, visit www.njshorerun.com/trickortrot5k or call (609) 624-1040. Event is sponsored by Upper Twp. Soccer Assn.
On Going: The Ocean City Repertory Theater, 813 Asbury Ave., presents an open mic night, hosted by the band Outlet every Thurs. at 7 p.m. Come to perform or just listen. Nov. 5: Register now for the Trail of Two Cities 5K race/walk over the new 9th St. Causeway. Pre-Registrations will be taken until Oct. 28, race day registration and packet pick ups 7 a.m. at the Ocean City Transportation Center, 10th and Haven Ave.

The Miss New Jersey Outstanding Teen Pageant is open to any young lady between the ages of 13 and 17 (can not be a 17 year old senior) who is interested in competing for the 2011-2012 title.
