Weekend Festival Drops Anchor in Stone Harbor

STONE HARBOR — Does a fun-filled schedule of seafood, boats, hidden treasure and free family activities sound like a winning way to spend a weekend?
Then gather your crew and cast off for the 25th annual Sail into Summer weekend. Hosted by the Borough of Stone Harbor, Sail into Summer takes place rain or shine along 96th Street and Second Avenue in the heart of the business district from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., May 7, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sun., May 8.
• Land Based Boat Show for “see” worthy vessels that range in length from eight feet to 35 feet, chart a course for 96th Street. Come get a look at the latest power and sail boats, yachts, and related accessories and equipment from the top vendors throughout Cape May and Atlantic Counties.
For those who prefer four wheels to keels, the most sought-after new cars will also be on display on 96th Street from local car dealers. An antiques car display will take place along Second Avenue.
• Outdoor Living – New vendors this year will include pools and spa companies as well as outdoor furniture dealers. Weber Grill will be holding a demonstration in front of Seashore Ace on Saturday.
• Seafood Festival
Dive into an amazing assortment of freshly prepared seafood, shellfish and sides offered up and down 96th Street from all your favorite area vendors and restaurants. The options are almost endless and offer many tasty choices for land-lubbers, too.
“This year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever,” said Stone Harbor Tourism Director Joann DelVescio. “Many exciting new food vendors will be on hand selling their popular dishes.”
• Hoy’s 5 & 10 Annual Kids Treasure Hunt-For mighty pirates ages 10 and under, Hoy’s 5 & 10 is once again sponsoring a free and fun treasure hunt on the beach, Sat., May 8, at 2 p.m. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday at Hoy’s 5 & 10 on 96th Street and is limited to the first 100 children.
Every registered treasure hunter is guaranteed to unearth a prize. Treasure hunt takes place on the beach at the end of 96th street at 2 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the Kids Treasure Hunt will take place at 2 p.m. on Sun., May 8. Participants are encouraged to don their best pirate gear.
• Free Entertainment and Activities – As guests Sail into Summer, live music will fill the streets . The galleries along Second Avenue will have artists painting on the sidewalks for guests to view as they stroll by. Plus sand art, face painting, a “please touch” tank from the Wetlands Institute and a sailboat making demonstration will delight the little ones.
Sign-up at the Chamber office to win free beach tags throughout the weekend and on Sunday at 3 p.m. winners will be announced.
